Professor Miguel Arzate Pérez studied for his doctorate in Architecture at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He is currently a Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus.

He has been coordinator of several projects with the support of institutions such as UAM, UNAM, CONACYT, ASA and GDF, HOLCIM APASCO, ICYT; organizer of several workshops, conferences, colloquiums, and congresses on sustainable design; evaluator and referee on sustainability issues in projects, schools, and magazines; advisor on sustainable design and development issues in different public and private agencies in Mexico, tutor for undergraduate, masters and doctoral programs in various public and private educational institutions.

He has participated in international conferences such as COP16 on Climate Change and COP13 on Biodiversity. He is a member and facilitator of international networks and projects specializing in climate change, such as: "The Climate Reality Project" an organization founded by Albert Arnold "Al" Gore, and "The Pachamama Alliance" that seeks to generate an environmentally sustainable and socially just human presence on the planet, through people who have the ability, understanding, and experience to convey the problem of climate change that we are currently experiencing and possible actions to reduce this trend.

He has written chapters of books such as: "Urban planning in the face of climate change: Mexico City," in which he addresses different actions and projects aimed at introducing mitigation and adaptation to climate change: energy, transportation and urban infrastructure, and the book called: "Guía de materiales y productos sustentables" which aims to promote the culture of sustainability in the construction industry, offering information on the negative impacts that materials and products have on the environment and showing the alternatives that Mexico has to mitigate its emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants contributing to curb climate change.
