Professor in the Department of Hydrobiology of the Faculty of Biological and Health Sciences of the Iztapalapa Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.

He studied Biology at the Iztapalapa Campus of the UAM. He completed his postgraduate studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in the Faculty of Science and obtained his Doctorate in Science at the Institute of Geophysics. He completed postdoctoral studies at the Faculty of Chemistry, UNAM and at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.

His research area is environmental geochemistry and bioremediation in water-soil-plants, as well as the application of optical, scanning and transmission microscopy, analytical techniques for the analysis of abiotic and biotic matrices. In particular, he has studied and published on soil-plant interactions in areas contaminated with potentially toxic elements, focusing on the accumulation, mobility, phytoavailability and speciation of potentially toxic elements in soils, as well as effects, interactions and structural changes in plants.
