Profile
Dr. Jorge R. Bolaños Servín is a young academic who graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Iztapalapa, class of 2004-2008. In 2010, he enrolled in the PhD program in Mathematical Sciences at the same university, earning his degree in 2014. During his doctoral studies, he undertook research stays at the Politecnico di Milano under the supervision of Dr. Franco Fagnola, and at the University of Pavia, where he closely collaborated with Dr. Raffaella Carbone.
In 2015, thanks to the Conacyt Postdoctoral Fellowship Program, he completed a one-year postdoctoral stay at the Politecnico di Milano and the University of Pavia, in addition to collaborating with Dr. Francesco Fidaleo at the University of Tor Vergata in Rome. Upon returning to Mexico, he joined the Department of Mathematics at UAM, Iztapalapa Campus as a visiting professor, combining teaching, research, and science outreach activities.
Since 2018, Jorge has been a tenured professor at UAM, where he has supervised both undergraduate and master's theses, and has also served as an external thesis advisor at other institutions. His work extends to science outreach, actively participating in events like the Carlos Graef Institute, which aims to inspire young high school students to develop an interest in science.
During the pandemic, he was appointed Coordinator of the General Mathematics Curriculum, responsible for planning and overseeing core subjects essential for engineering and hard sciences, such as differential and integral calculus, and applied linear algebra. He also managed the mathematics teaching assistants during this critical period.
Since 2017, he has been a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI), level 1, solidifying his career as a researcher committed to advancing knowledge and fostering the development of new generations of scientists.
