Profile
Professor Claudia Irais Muñoz García is a Veterinary Zootechnician by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Master in Health Sciences and Animal Production by the UNAM and Doctor in Veterinary Sciences by the University of Murcia.
She is currently a tenured Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). She teaches Infectious and Parasitic Diseases and their Importance for Public Health in the degree program in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics.
Her disciplinary area is developed in the field of parasitic and infectious diseases in wildlife, in addition to other related areas of study, such as ecology, pathology, anatomy, and physiology of wild animals and invasive species and companion and production animals; and everything related to zoonotic diseases and the generation of new knowledge of pathogens in megadiverse countries.
Until 2020 she has authored 31 articles, one book and five book chapters. She is part of the academic body: Eco-physiopathology of wildlife. She is a member of organizations and associations such as: Sociedad Mexicana de Parasitología, Red de Fauna Nativa en Ambientes Antropizados, Sociedad Mesoamericana para la Biología y Conservación and Red de Ecología de Enfermedades Latinoamericana.
She collaborates in projects with several universities and national and international institutions such as Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Universidad Juárez Autónoma de Tabasco, Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro, Universidad de Murcia, Universidad San Francisco de Quito, University of Witwatersrand, University of Fort Hare, Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI, Hospital General Dr. Manuel Gea González, Instituto de Diagnóstico y Referencia Epidemiológicos, among others.
