Profile
Professor Karla Pelz studied Biology at the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro. In 2012, she obtained a Ph.D. in Natural Resources with an emphasis in wildlife management and fisheries sciences at the University of Arizona, USA, and also obtained a specialty in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.
She is currently a Professor in the Department of Environmental Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Lerma Campus and Coordinator of Studies of the Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Biology. She is president of the Latin American and Caribbean Section of the Society for Conservation Biology (SCB). She has been awarded with different prizes such as "Amphibian Champion" in 2015, "Future leader in amphibian conservation" 2015, EDGE Fellowship in 2013, among others. She has organized multiple international scientific events since 2014, as well as Sustainability Fairs UAM Lerma Campus since 2015, among other events for the dissemination of science and sustainable development.
