Professor Jaell Durán Herrera is an architect from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus. Master´s in Architecture from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) with the research entitled "The symbols of identity and their reading in the processes of appropriation of the house", under the direction of Dr. Fernando Martín Juez. Ph.D. in Architecture at UNAM with the research "Living up there. Microappropriation, qualities, architectural vindication and use of rooftops".
She has professional experience in collaboration with different architectural firms. With design experience in several projects: housing, Mexico City airport (international lounges), Acapulco supply center, ILCE offices, Torre del Angel lobby, etc., also as a professional services consultant. Independent experience, and also in collaboration with Mario Larrondo and Isaac Lopez for more than 25 years, in building and sustainable design processes. Among them, some houses with materials such as stabilized earth, volcanic stone, and vaults without formwork.
She is the coordinator of the Bachelor of Architecture and Professor of Design Workshop in Architecture. She has been Head of the research area "Urban Projects, alternative city and sustainable development from 2016-2018"; Divisional Advisor of the Department of Creative Synthesis from 2015 to 2016; and Academic Advisor of the Department of Creative Synthesis. Participation as editor in the international organization for the Building Trust International magazine.
She has given several lectures: at the IX congress on Earth in Valladolid Spain; at the seminar Punto de Encuentro of the Xochimilco Campus of the UAM; at the permanent seminar Vortices and Bifurcations, at the second symposium of Architecture for the updating of the curriculum and at the UNISS Trinidad branch in Cuba; at the International congress of Teaching and Research in Design in 2015; among others.
She belongs to the department of Creative Synthesis of the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design, and to the research area of Urban Projects, Alternative City, and Sustainable Development, at the UAM Xochimilco Campus.
She coordinates and organizes the "Seminar Vortexes and Bifurcations. Alternative Design Paths" since 2012. She has published articles in indexed journals.
