Profile
Dr. Grethell Georgina Pérez Sánchez earned her B.S. in Electronic Engineering at the Azcapotzalco Campus of UAM, her M.S. in Telecommunications Engineering at ESIME Zacatenco (IPN), and her Ph.D. in Advanced Technology at CIITEC (IPN).
She works as a professor and researcher at the Azcapotzalco Campus of UAM. From 2015 to 2017 she taught in the Department of Basic Sciences, and since 2017 she has served as a tenured professor in the Department of Electronics, where she contributes to the Telematics and Telemetry Academic Area.
Her research focuses on photonics for sensing and telecommunications applications. She has supervised more than 50 integration projects, including undergraduate and graduate theses. She has held the Level 1 National Researcher distinction from SNII since 2015 and earned the PRODEP desirable profile in 2014. She has also led PRODEP, TNM, and CONAHCyT research projects as technical manager. She belongs to the core faculty of the Graduate Program in Optimization and participates in the Telecommunications Systems Academic Body.
In the professional field, she has worked at ADEMSA (TMM Group) and Simemex S.A. de C.V.. She has also taught at the National Polytechnic Institute, the Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Coacalco, and the CEDVA Educational Group.
She serves as editor of AZCATL, UAM’s science outreach journal, and leads the Inclusive Astronomy Workshop, designed for people who are blind or have low vision.
Throughout her career, she has taken part in numerous academic committees, coordinated thematic groups, contributed to curriculum committees, and served as Divisional Coordinator for Academic Development. She currently works as Coordinator of the Bachelor’s Program in Physical Engineering.
