Profile

Dr. Lucía Ortega Cabello holds a Ph.D. in Biological and Health Sciences, a Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Biological Chemistry from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Unidad Xochimilco. She holds postgraduate credentials in Artificial Intelligence Applied to Pharmacy and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She was awarded the University Merit Medal by UAM, previously held the rank of Candidate in the Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII), and holds the PRODEP Desirable Profile distinction awarded by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).

She serves as a Full-Time Associate Professor in the Department of Biological Systems within the Division of Biological and Health Sciences at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Xochimilco.

Her research focuses on the green synthesis of metallic nanoparticles for therapeutic applications, characterization of plant and microbial secondary metabolites, implementation of alternative pharmacological models (3Rs principle), and the integration of artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical sciences and higher education. She has published peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters with international academic publishers including Wiley and Springer, serves on the research committee of the Artificial Intelligence Global Education Network (AIGEN), and supervises undergraduate and master’s degree theses.
