Professor José Leandro Mendoza Cuenca is an Industrial Designer from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus (1981 - 1985). He is a Ceramic Technician who graduated from the Third Generation of the School of Ceramics and Porcelain of Toluca (1985 - 1987). Ph.D. Candidate in Design at the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, with the research topic. "Ceramic composites from industrial waste". Fourth Promotion from 2013 to 2016. He has made a doctoral research stay at the Corrosion Research Center of the Autonomous University of Campeche, performing analysis for the characterization of ceramic materials, using XRD, FTIR, and SEM/EDX, the latter at the facilities of CINVESTAV, Merida Unit, Yucatan.

He is a founding member of the College of Industrial Designers of the State of Mexico, CODIEM (2010). In his professional experience, he has been Production Manager, designer, mold and die maker in the company Porcelana Suzuki, from 1987 to 2003. He is an Academic Technician at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus July 2015 to date.

He has given the following lectures: "Advances in research on the use of steel slag in the formulation of ceramic composites". He was jury in the 5th National Contest of Handmade Ceramics, San Isidro Fair 2016 Municipality of Metepec, State of Mexico, and in the 3rd Contest "CatrinArte 2018", Municipality of Metepec, State of Mexico. He has been an exhibitor at the Franz Mayer Museum "My Land, My Body" July 1998.
