Professor Mario Pérez Monterosas was born in August 1968 in the rural town of Tetla, Tlaxcala. He is a Sociologist by the Universidad Veracruzana, Master in Rural Studies by El Colegio de Michoacán and Ph.D. in History and Regional Studies, Universidad Veracruzana.
Since 2014 he has been a Professor of the Department of Sociology, a Professor with a desirable profile Promep-SEP since 2016. He belongs to the National System of Researchers, Level I, since 2015.
He is a founding partner of Servicios Integrales para el Desarrollo Comunitario 2010; Association dedicated to strengthening women's organizational processes and the social production of housing in Veracruz. (https://www.sidecmujeres.org/)
His research specializes in the sociology of international migration from a subjective and interdisciplinary perspective, focusing on social and cultural factors, networks and interactions of rural and indigenous multisituated actors, socioemotional and identity factors of rural women, and transit of Central Americans through Mexico. Her contributions are based on a focus on socio-cultural, emotional, and inter-subjective aspects based on the experiences and meanings of the actors obtained from fieldwork in situ and in vivo.
His work is strengthened in field practices with sociology students, for the sensitization with the rural reality and the linkage with civil society organizations in northern and central Veracruz.
