Profile

Professor Román Anselmo Mora Gutiérrez is an Industrial Forestry Engineer (UACh), with a Master's degree and Ph.D. in Engineering (Systems in Operations Research) from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). He is currently assigned to the Systems Department of the Basic Sciences and Engineering Division of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus.

He has been a member of the National System of Researchers with level 1 since 2014 and has had the PROMEP desirable profile since 2014. He has published over six book chapters, 20 indexed articles, and 170 citations. In human resources training, he has directed 11 bachelor's theses, six master's theses, and two doctoral theses; currently, he is co-director of two doctoral theses, co-director of three master's theses, and co-director of three bachelor's theses.

Within UAM Azcapotzalco Campus, he has participated as a member of the study committees of the postgraduate studies of optimization (period 2016-2017), Master in Computing from 2019 to date, and Design and Visualization of Information since 2019; additionally, he was responsible for the thematic group of Decision Making from 2013 to 2015.

His main areas of research are heuristic and metaheuristic methods (emphasis on those that mimic social and cultural behavior) for continuous and discrete optimization, modeling of social and environmental systems, biocomputing applications.
