Professor Claudia Ballesteros Barrera has a Ph.D. in Science from the Institute of Biology of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). She received her degree with the thesis "Effects of global climate change on the distribution of species in the Chihuahuan Desert". Her tutor was Dr. Enrique Martínez Meyer (September 2008). She studied the Master of Science (Animal Biology) at the Faculty of Sciences of UNAM and her thesis work was titled "Morphometric structure and trophic structure of a rodent community of mesophilic forest" and her tutor was Dr. Fernando A. Cervantes Reza (July 2003). She obtained a grade point average of 10.00. She did her B.S. in Biology at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). Her dissertation was: "Analysis of the Community Structure of Bats in the Zapotitlán Valley, Puebla". Her tutor was Master Gerardo López Ortega (May 1997). She obtained a grade point average of 9.67. She also studied for a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Sciences at the Universidad del Valle de México, Campus San Rafael. Her thesis was "La Radio Rural como Medio de Comunicación Alternativo. La experiencia de Radio Mezquital". Carlos Mata Puga (September 1996) and graduated with a grade point average of 9.5.
She has done a research stay at the Wildlife Laboratory, Multidisciplinary Academic Unit of Agronomy and Sciences at the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas. Principal Researcher: Dr. Jacinto Treviño Carreón. Project: Methods for population ecology analysis of arid zone plants. October-November 2006.
