Professor Juan Gabriel Rivas Espinosa has a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus. He has postgraduate studies in nursing specialization in Adult Care in Critical Condition at ENEO-UNAM, and graduated from the first generation of Master's Degree in Nursing Education by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

He has worked in various hospitals in the CDMX, both public and private, holding positions as a specialist nurse, head of service, area supervisor, and coordinator of teaching and research, with clinical experience of over 20 years. He has worked on several research projects and participated in scientific publications in several national and international journals in the lines of care methodology and self-care. Author and collaborator in books published by UAM, UNAM, and others, which has allowed his participation as a speaker and lecturer in various academic and scientific scenarios at the national and international levels.

Participant in the creation and design of the national project of Standardized Nursing Care Plans as a member of the Standing Committee on Nursing for the Ministry of Health; and the group for the formation of Advanced Practice Nursing Mexico; as well as in the Interprofessional Education project in collaboration with PAHO-WHO, ENEO-UNAM. Evaluator before the Mexican Council for Nursing Accreditation (COMACE).

His academic teaching career of 25 years as a professor at the Facultad de Estudios Superiores Zaragoza UNAM and tutor of the Master's program in Nursing at UNAM. He is currently Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus, and is the Coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
