Profile
Professor Ernesto Sánchez Mendoza studied Chemistry at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), then he entered the Master's and Ph.D. program in Chemical Sciences at UNAM, where he first studied his master's degree with orientation in Analytical Chemistry and then did his Ph.D. in the same program. During his academic training, he carried out research in nuclear magnetic resonance aimed at the structural elucidation of molecules up to the study of theoretical and experimental scalar coupling of NMR phenomena. He did a postdoctoral stay at the Department of Chemistry and Theoretical Physics of the Faculty of Chemistry of UNAM in 2008 where he carried out theoretical studies on NMR coupling constants in heteroaromatic systems.
On the other hand, along with his master's studies, he began his development as a teacher, first as a teaching assistant through program 121 of the Faculty of Chemistry of the UNAM and later, as a lecturer, an appointment that he continues to perform to date. He has taught in this faculty subjects such as Analytical Chemistry I, Analytical Chemistry II, Instrumental Analytical Chemistry I, Instrumental Analytical Chemistry II and Applied Spectroscopy. He was a professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe, where he taught Chemistry and Thermodynamics. Currently, he is a Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), teaching the modules of Evaluation of Raw Materials for Drug Production, Applied Instrumental Analysis and the UEA of Chemistry for the Bachelor's Degree in Biological Pharmaceutical Chemistry; he also teaches the module of Physicochemical Bases of Biological and Pharmaceutical Processes in the Master's Degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences.
In 2010, he joined the UAM Xochimilco Campus, and is currently responsible for the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Laboratory. This laboratory provides service to different projects whose research challenge is the elucidation or confirmation of molecular structures. On the other hand, in 2012 he joined the consolidated research group "Chemistry and pharmacology of compounds of interest for the pharmaceutical sector" where they identify, isolate and quantify different metabolites extracted from plants with possible pharmacological activity.
Among the relevant contributions of his research are two patent titles, 15 articles in indexed journals, 12 Social Service students and more than 60 presentations in national congresses. He belongs to the National System of Researchers, Level I since 2015, and has a PRODEP profile.
