Dr. Edwin Bulmaro Bahena holds Ph.D. degrees in Political and Social Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and in Administrative Sciences from the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN). He earned a Master’s degree in Sociology from the Azcapotzalco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) and a Master’s degree in Political and Social Studies from UNAM. He also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from UAM’s Iztapalapa Campus and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at UNAM.

His research focuses on the relationship between social classes and elites and the State; the role of organized crime in shaping contemporary violence in Mexico; and the impact of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in the contemporary world. He has published several academic articles in these fields.

He is currently a full-time Associate Professor “D” in the Department of Sociology at the Iztapalapa Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, where he is a member of the Sociology of Culture research area.
