Professor Gerardo Abel Laguna Sanchez received, in 1988, the degree of Electronics Technician from CECYT "Wilfrido Massieu", Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN); in 1993, the degree of Electronics Engineer from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa; in 1998, the degree of Master in Engineering, Operations Research, from the Graduate Studies Division of the Faculty of Engineering (DEPFI) of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and, in 2010, the degree of Doctor in Computer Science from the Center for Research in Computing (CIC) of the IPN.
Professor Laguna worked in the private industrial sector, from 1993 to 2007, in the area of Design and Development Engineering (D&D) of original devices for manufacturing (OEM) and supervisory systems (SCADA), with industrial applications of telemetry and telecontrol in the electric power distribution sector.
He has also developed academic activities since 1995. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Information and Communication Systems at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Lerma Campus. His research interests include digital communications, computational intelligence, and the application of advanced digital signal processing techniques.
