Profile

Professor Gregorio Guzmán González is a Chemical Engineer from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, supervised by Dr. Guillermo E. Negrón Silva, developing topics of synthesis of solid catalysts and organic substances with pharmaceutical applications through homogeneous and heterogeneous reaction processes, Master by the UAM Iztapalapa Campus, supervised by Dr. Carlos O. Castillo Araiza developing theoretical-experimental analysis of kinetic and diffusional processes of dyes in porous adsorbents. Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UAM Iztapalapa Campus, supervised by Dr. Hugo Joaquín Ávila Paredes, Dr. Ernesto Rivera García, and Dr. Ignacio González Martínez, developing materials and methodologies for the fabrication of energy storage devices, using liquid and solid electrolytes. Post-doctorate at the Basque Center for Macromolecular Design & Engineering, University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU, supervised by Dr. David Mecerreyes, in the development of polymeric materials and organic salts for the preparation of liquid and solid electrolytes with application in energy storage devices.

He has been involved in energy storage issues at the industrial level for two years, collaborating with Toyota Motor Europe (Senior Engineer Dr. Laurent Castro), one year working for Blue Solutions Canada (Dr. Sarah Degras, Electrical Manufacturing), and one year working for Blue Solutions Canada (Dr. Sarah Degras, Electrical Manufacturing). Sarah Degras, Electrical/Electronics Manufacturing), one year advising Tekniker | Research and Technology Centre (Oihane Hernandez-Rodriguez, Surface and Materials Physics) and close collaboration with the Institute for Frontier Materials in Australia (Prof. Maria Forsyth); developing materials for liquid and polymer electrolytes for incorporation in various energy storage and energy conversion systems. This has allowed him to gain the necessary experience to meet the current and future scientific and technological challenges of electrochemical energy storage systems.

His research interests are oriented to the integral design of materials with application in the preparation of electrodes and electrolytes for energy storage devices and the development of assembly methodologies for their incorporation in devices with real applications; they are adequate and necessary for the development of science and technology of current interest and to satisfy some of the problems framed in the areas of national priority.

On the other hand, the methodology applied in his academic training oriented to obtain results has allowed him to generate teaching, research, and problem solving skills, acquiring a global and inclusive vision in the area of materials science oriented to electrochemical processes. In addition to communication skills necessary for the formation of students and multidisciplinary groups of innovative scientific and technological research.
