Profile
Dr. Juan José Pérez Rivero Cruz y Celis earned his degree in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in 2008. He also completed a Diploma in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at UNAM. He obtained his Master of Science degree from UNAM, where he was awarded the Alfonso Caso Medal for University Merit at the Master’s level. He later earned his Ph.D. in Sciences from the same institution and received the Alfonso Caso Medal for University Merit at the Doctoral level.
Since 2009, he has been a Research Professor at the Xochimilco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). He holds the PRODEP Desirable Profile recognition and is a Level I member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII), with current appointment valid through December 31, 2026.
He currently teaches the course Surgical Techniques and Therapeutics in the Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science program. He organizes academic activities related to surgical education and practice through simulation models and is the author and co-author of more than 50 articles published in indexed journals.
In 2014, he received the Teaching Excellence Award from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus.
