Professor Emilio Rendón Franco is a Veterinary Doctor and Master in Animal Health and Production Sciences from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México. Doctorate in Immunology from the National School of Biological Sciences of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional. He made international stays at the Zoological Institute of the Zoological Society of London, United Kingdom (2006) and the Universities of FortHare and Witwatersrand, South Africa (2019-2020).

Member of the certifying commission in the area of wildlife of CONCERVET. Collaborator of the ASCaRIs association (African Small Carnivore Research Initiatives, https://ascaris.org). Member of the academic body, "Eco-physiopathology of wildlife".

His work focuses on disease ecology and eco-immunology in wildlife. His main research lines are 1) identification of infectious agents in wildlife; 2) epidemiology in wildlife; 3) effect of infectious agents on the health of wild vertebrates; 4) comparative immunology; 5) implication of diseases in wildlife conservation.
