Profile
Professor Paula Soto Villagrán has a Master's degree and a Ph.D. in Anthropological Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), Iztapalapa Campus.
She did a postdoctoral research stay in Human Geography in the Department of Sociology at the UAM. She is a Professor in the Department of Sociology of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, Iztapalapa Campus of the UAM. Head of the Space and Society research area and professor in the Human Geography Department. Member of the National System of Researchers.
She has been a consultant at the Inter-American Development Bank with the project "Viajemos Seguras en el Transporte Público de la Ciudad de México. Aportes al Diseño e Implementación de Políticas de Prevención de la Violencia de género en espacios Públicos de la Ciudad" developed in 2014-2015 and recently with the 2019 project "Análisis de la movilidad, accesibilidad y seguridad de las mujeres en los Centros de Transferencia Modal (CETRAM) de la Ciudad de México" of the Transport Gender Lab of the Inter-American Development Bank-IDB.
She is currently Researcher in charge of the SECTEI Project "A gender-intersectional look at the daily mobility practices of men and women in Mexico City. Aportes para la construcción de ciudades cuidadoras e inclusivas/9978c19" and the CONACYT Project "Habitar, moverse, cuidar y trabajar en tiempos del COVID-19. A study on urban socio-spatial practices/313411".
In 2020 she received recognition from Transfromative Urban Mobility Initiative (https://womenmobilize.org) as Remarkable Women in Transport 2020.
