Dr. Armando García Chiang holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA) from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in France, a Master’s degree in Regional Studies from the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora (Instituto Mora), and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

He serves as a Full-Time Tenured Faculty Researcher (Titular C) in the Department of Sociology at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa. His research focuses on the intersection of space and society, with particular emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the energy industry and Social Impact Assessment (SIA). Additionally, he has established an ongoing line of research in the sociology of religion, contributing analyses on the territorial dimension and spatialization of sacred expressions in Mexico.

Alongside his academic work, Dr. García Chiang has an extensive track record as a technical consultant for international bodies, including the European Union, and for energy sector corporations, leading social and environmental management projects. His academic publications include books and peer-reviewed articles linking social methodology with regional development and infrastructure.
