Professor Armando Garcia Chiang has more than 20 years of professional experience as a researcher in local development, identifying social risk, and conducting an environmental impact assessment for urban and energy sector projects.

He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a DEA from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales de Paris, a Master's degree in Regional Studies from the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora. Mexico City and completed a diploma in Safety, Quality and Environment from the University of Montpellier in France. He holds a degree in Geography from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

He has participated in the creation of popular education workshops, peasant organizations, and scientific mediation. He has been a Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) since 2009 and teaches social and geographical subjects. He has been the coordinator of more than 35 social and environmental impact studies in the energy sector.
