Professor Roberto García Sandoval attended high school at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), at the Centro de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos No. 9 "Juan de Dios Bátiz" where he studied Machine and Tool Technician. At a higher level, he graduated from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus with a degree in Industrial Design. He completed two university degrees at the Universidad Ibero Americana (UIA), one in Packaging and the other in Marketing. He studied for a Master's degree in Packaging Engineering and Design at the Mexican Institute of Packaging Professionals (IMPEE). He obtained a Master's degree in Administration with a specialization in Marketing from the Universidad Latinoamericana (UIA). He is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Education at the Instituto de Enlaces Educativos.

He has been teaching the Industrial Design degree at UAM Xochimilco Campus since 2010 and has participated in the Master of Ecodesign at Universidad Anáhuac Campus Norte. He has the PRODEP recognition.

Within UAM, he has participated in several internal projects, such as the development of a tricycle for the RACE RUNNER competition for people with motor disabilities; working in the community of Agua Blanca, Puerto Escondido Oaxaca, under the methodology "Designing for a complex world" by John Takara; participatory work with the Master of Neurological Rehabilitation of the UAM Xochimilco Campus for the development of tools for rehabilitation; development of furniture for childcare centers, DIF; design of points of sale for street vendors for the Magdalena Contreras Delegation; intervention in APAC A. C and the research project "Bamboo use in design".
