Doctor Yissel Arce Padrón received her Bachelor's degree in Art History from the University of Havana, Cuba. Master's and Ph.D. in Asian and African Studies, specializing in Contemporary African Art at El Colegio de México. In her native Cuba, she received the Guy Pérez Cisneros National Art Criticism Award in 2001. She has the Desirable Profile PROMEP and belongs to the National System of Researchers, level I.
She is a Professor and Researcher in the Department of Education and Communication of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities in the Graduate Program of Communication and Politics and the Doctorate in Humanities of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus.
Her experience in university management includes her collaboration in the Academic Commission of the Doctorate in Humanities, in the Academic Commission of the Master's in Communication and Politics, and in the Academic Evaluation Commission of the Calls for Academic Development of the Rector's Office of the UAM.
She has published more than 53 research articles in books and national and international journals; she participated as a speaker and moderator in 86 congresses and forums and gave more than 30 lectures at various meetings. She has supervised more than 40 graduate theses and more than 50 final undergraduate projects.
She was the Director of the journal Versión. Estudios de Comunicación y Política. Editor of the magazine Artecubano and the tabloid Noticias de Arte Cubano, both published by the Consejo Nacional de las Artes Plásticas of Cuba. She participates in the arbitration of material submitted to magazines and specialized publications of the Iberoamericana University of Murcia, Madrid, El Colegio de Mexico, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), and UAM.
