Dr. Annaliesse Hurtado Guzmán holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), where she also earned a Master’s degree in Social Psychology of Groups and Institutions and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Psychology. She completed a research stay at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, affiliated with the Department of Communication.
She is currently a Research Professor in the Department of Sociology at UAM’s Iztapalapa Campus and a member of the academic area State and Social Movements. She is a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers at the Candidate level and serves on the Commission of the Colaboratorio de Investigaciones Situadas: Arte y Cuerpo.
Her academic and research work focuses on the analysis of contemporary issues such as gender-based violence, migration and forced displacement, political violence, social struggles and forms of resistance, as well as processes of social exclusion, marginalization, labor, and social conflict. She has also been actively involved in the defense and promotion of the human rights of children and youth.
