Profile

Professor Jesús Octavio Elizondo Martínez has a Ph.D. in Philosophy from the Complutense University of Madrid, and he is a member of the National System of Investigators, Level II, and Head of the Department of Communication Sciences for the period 2017-2021.

He is a Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Cuajimalpa Campus since 2008, where he regularly teaches courses on Knowledge Economy and Information Society, Media Ecology, and Technological Change courses, as well as the Study of audiences and message analysis, among others.

He has been part of various research groups such as Culture, technology, and meaning; Communication, technology, and subjectivity; Digital society studies; Culture and digital systems; Transborder and Cultural Issues (MEX / US / CAN).

For two decades, he has written articles on philosophy and language, semiotics and logic, the rhetoric of the image, identity and technology, as well as theory, history, and methodology for communication research. He is the author of some books: Elizondo, J.O. (2019) Knowledge monopolies, Big Data and open knowledge. Mexico: UAM Cuajimalpa -in press-; Elizondo, J.O. (2015) Visual culture and meaning systems.
