Profile

Professor Sandra Luz Molina Mata is a Ph.D. candidate in Environment and Integrated Development at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) and holds a Master's degree in Industrial Design from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where she was awarded the Alfonso Caso Medal. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies in the Product Design and Development program at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus.

Since 2008 she has been a Professor at the UAM, in the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design. She coordinates the LeNS Network for Mexico and Central America, a project funded by the Erasmus+ program, and is responsible for the LeNS Mexico Laboratory at the Azcapotzalco Campus. She was General Coordinator of Academic Development from 2018 to 2019 at the Rector's Office of the Azcapotzalco Campus. She has coordinated national and international events on Design for Sustainability, distributed economies, and social innovation.

She is part of the faculty of the "Taller Interuniversitario de Diseño: Diseño para la Activación Social", launched by Laboratorio para la Ciudad in the framework of World Design Capital CDMX 2018 and which has been held for two consecutive years. She is also an accredited tutor of the Master's Program in Design Industry (PNPC of CONACYT) of the Faculty of Architecture of the UNAM.

For 13 years, she has developed research work on the relationship between design and sustainable development, her publications (national and international) include theoretical and methodological development, as well as results of field work. Her current line of research is oriented to design for social innovation as a means to achieve welfare futures.
