Profile

Professor Humberto Eduardo Gonzalez Bravo was born in Mexico City in December 1981. He is a Mechanical Engineer with a major in Energy Systems from Universidad La Salle Mexico; he obtained a Master's degree in Energy Engineering in the area of Energy Saving and Efficient Use of Energy from the Institute of Renewable Energy of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) with Honorable Mention. He currently requested a sabbatical stay as he is in the process of entering the Ph.D. program in the area of process engineering, developing the modeling, energy, and exergetic evaluation and optimization of a hybrid solar-gas tunnel plant for the dehydration of agro-industrial products.

He works at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus since 2008 in the Department of Energy, Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering. He has participated in developing several energy audits for both the industrial and service sectors. Some of his most relevant works include audits for the Institute of Renewable Energies of the UNAM in the framework of the Macroproject of Ciudad Universitaria y la Energía, energy study for the Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga in Mazunte Oaxaca, energy diagnosis for the Museo Universitario del Chopo, 3rd level energy audit for CINVESTAV Ticomán and its update, developing both technical studies for the development of energy saving programs and campaigns to promote energy saving and efficient use of energy.

He participated in the energy audit project in domestic refrigerators for Mabe, building a controlled environment chamber that served as the main equipment for the analysis of the energy performance of refrigerators; among the results are highlighted the study of internal parameters of pressure flow and temperature of the refrigeration cycle, the proposal to improve the ventilation system of high pressure components, and the study of heat transfer of the mechanical compressor and its effect on the consumption of electricity. Subsequently, together with the company Reach Innovation, he carried out a study for the incorporation of a parabolic trough type solar collection system as an energy source for the activation of an absorption refrigeration cycle by performing the dynamic simulation of the system and the experimental study by developing a test bench and the design of a double tube heat exchanger for heat transfer between the thermal oil heating system and the absorber of the refrigeration system. Much of his research has been carried out in the Refrigeration Laboratory of Transport Phenomena and Renewable Energies located in the Azcapotzalco Campus of the UAM, of which he shares responsibility in its management and direction with Dr. Rubén José Dorantes Rodríguez. He has made 25 publications in congresses and four articles in indexed journals as well as 40 technical reports delivered to different instances that have hired him for professional services.

As part of his teaching collaborations, he has served as coordinator of the diploma in energy organized for the National Association of the Chemical Industry (ANIQ), teaching the modules of Energy Diagnosis and Economic Evaluation of Energy Projects. He has collaborated with the Secretary of National Defense (SEDENA), teaching a course on Cogeneration. As part of his work at the Azcapotzalco Campus he has taught different Teaching and Learning Units (UEA) among which are: Applied Thermodynamics, Industrial Installations, Energy Conversion Processes, Energy Resources, Solar Energy Laboratory, Thermofluids Laboratory and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. He taught courses on thermal power plants, air conditioning and refrigeration at the undergraduate level and Analysis of Energy and Environmental Problems at the graduate level at La Salle University.

He has directed more than 25 theses at the undergraduate level, and several social service works, mainly oriented to the improvement of the workshops and laboratories of the Energy Department of the Azcapotzalco Campus, of which he was the coordinator. During his coordination, he elaborated laboratory manuals and compiled technical information of equipment, maintenance programs, and technical specification sheets, all this through a program of the operative rescue of the workshops and laboratories.
