Professor Alejandro Alonso Altamirano is a Full-time Tenured Associate Professor at the Health Care Department of the Division of Biological and Health Sciences at the Xochimilco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus, and a Master's degree in Clinical Nutrition from the Universidad del Valle de México. He is the Coordinator of Undergraduate Medical Internship and Social Service for the Bachelor of Medicine program from 2019 to 2023. He teaches in the Bachelor of Medicine and the Bachelor of Human Nutrition programs at the Xochimilco Campus of the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and is in charge of the Physiology Laboratory for the Bachelor of Medicine program.

He is an Active Member of the Latin American Association of Personalized Medicine (ALAMP) and a Diabetes Educator Physician. He is also part of the Basic Sciences Research Area of the Health Care Department.
