Professor Raúl Romero Ruiz holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences and Humanities from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Cuajimalpa Campus in the line of Socioterritorial Studies. He has a Master's degree in Regional Studies from the Instituto de Investigaciones Dr. José María Luis Mora and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.

He is currently a full-time Professor and Associate Researcher in the Department of Sociology at the Iztapalapa Campus of the UAM (2010 to date). He is a member of the Iberoamerican Research Network on Imaginaries and Representations and the Latin American Network in Movement: Psychosocial Perspectives. Member of the Research Area: Collective Action and Emerging Identities and of the Academic Group Collective Action and Identities.

The main areas of teaching in which he has taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate level have been in contemporary and modern social theories, methodology, and techniques of social research and sociology, geography, and anthropology of space. He maintains a thesis direction seminar in Sociology, Social Psychology, and Human Geography.

His main lines of research and editorial production are: Urban microterritorialities of everyday life; Socio-spatial representations and imaginaries; Methodology of social research, mixed and through specialized software. Diversification of sources in social research. Sociodigital networks, their communication and identity representation.
