Profile
Professor Roberto Olayo-Valles received his B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa in 1997. He completed graduate studies at the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at the University of Minnesota. He concluded his doctoral studies at the Department of Chemical Engineering of the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez.
Professor Olayo-Valles' research includes synthesizing and characterizing nanostructured polymeric materials and magnetic nanomaterials. His work on nanoporous polymeric materials based on partially degradable block copolymers and magnetomicelles for drug delivery activated by high frequency alternating magnetic fields are noteworthy. The research work in the Olayo-Valles group aims to provide elements that allow the rational design of materials for diverse applications, including biomedical applications such as drug delivery and tissue engineering.
