Professor Edgar López Galván is a Chemical Engineer from the Faculty of Chemistry of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México, Master of Science in Water Quality from the Faculty of Engineering of the same institution, and Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering (ITT).

He has taught at several institutions since 1994; he joined the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in 2006, in the Department of Basic Sciences. Since his definitive position at UAM (2007) he has been responsible for three research projects (one of them with external funding) and collaborator in other five (three with external funding).

He has been Head of Area, Member of the Study Committee of the Master in Environmental Sciences and Engineering, Academic Advisor, Academic Collegiate, Academic Secretary, and Director of the Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering. Author and co-author of more than 60 articles and conference proceedings, as well as advisor and co-advisor of 60 terminal projects and undergraduate and five graduate theses. His research interests are: Biological wastewater treatment systems, modeling and characterization of pollutants in aquatic bodies, biodegradation of organic compounds.
