Profile

Dr. Luis Alberto Andrade Pérez is an Architect from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus. He holds a Master’s degree in Sciences and Arts for Design from the same institution, where he graduated with the University Merit Medal, and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), where he was awarded Honorable Mention. He also holds a Ph.D. in Architecture from UNAM. He is a specialist in Bioclimatic Architecture from the Universidad del Medio Ambiente (UMA). Additionally, he completed a Diploma in Assisted Social Housing Production from the Xochimilco Campus and a Diploma in Sustainable Design and Construction from UNAM.

He is a Full-Time Professor - Researcher, Category B, affiliated with the Popular Housing and its Environment Academic Area of the Methods and Systems Department in the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design at UAM. He is currently the head of this area, the coordinator of the Editorial Committee of the journal Diseño y Sociedad, and the academic coordinator of the 1st and 2nd International Congress on Mexican Vernacular Housing: Environment, Settlement, and Heritage (2022 and 2024, respectively). He is an active member of the Sustainable Housing and Habitat Network of Mexico.

At UAM, he teaches in the Bachelor's degree program in Architecture as well as in the Master's and Doctorate programs in Sciences and Arts for Design. He has supervised ICRs and theses at the master's and doctoral levels, delivered lectures at national and international events, and published articles in architecture and design journals and books. He has served as an advisor to various Civil Associations dedicated to bioconstruction and the social production of housing in rural areas. He has also undertaken architectural housing projects in both urban and rural areas and has worked with construction companies, civil associations, and private architectural firms.
