Professor Mika Olsen completed her bachelor's degree in actuarial science at the Faculty of Sciences at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and postgraduate studies at the Institute of Mathematics UNAM in Graph Theory. She has taught mathematics classes at the Faculty of Sciences, UNAM, at ITAM, at Tec de Monterrey and finally at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Cuajimalpa Campus and UAM Iztapalapa Campus. She received the UAM Cuajimalpa Campus teaching award in 2011.

She is a founding member of the UAM Cuajimalpa Campus and has participated in commissions related to the continuous improvement of education and the educational model of the UAM Cuajimalpa Campus. She has directed terminal projects, theses at UNAM, and projects at the master's level. Moreover, she has published at the UAM Cuajimalpa Campus a book with math problems and two books for courses at the UAM Cuajimalpa Campus.

She collaborates with researchers from the Cuajimalpa Campus, Iztapalapa Campus, the UNAM Institute of Mathematics, and the ITAM, as well as a researcher from the UPC, Barcelona, with whom she completed a sabbatical year and several short academic stays. She has published more than 30 articles in indexed journals, in addition to conference proceedings and divulgation articles. She has level 1 of SNI and a desirable PRODEP profile.

Furthermore, she has directed two projects of Conacyt and participated in several projects of Conacyt and the government of Spain.

She was part of the organizing committee of the "Victor Neumann-Lara" Colloquium on Graph Theory, Combinatorics, and its Applications for five years and is part of the organizing committee of the fortnightly seminar "Graph Theory and its Applications" at the UAM Cuajimalpa Campus.

She was in charge of the Academic Commission of Prodep (previously Promep) on two occasions, a member of the Divisional Adjudicator of Natural Sciences and Engineering for almost four years, of which she served as secretary for two years, and is currently Coordinator of the Degree in Applied Mathematics and Systems.
