Profile

Dr. Martín Gómez is a Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus, since September 2005. He was graduate program Coordinator, for Masters and doctors’ degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, since 2015 to 2023. With recognition of the desirable profile PRODEP (Secretaria de Educación Pública , México) in the period 2016-2024. He obtained recognition from the National Council for Sciences and Technology (CONACyT) Level I, for the period 2005 to 2016.

Dr. Gómez obtained Doctor degree (Chemistry) in 2004 and the Master degree in 1999, for the UAM, Iztapalapa Campus. He completed his bachelor's degree at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México UNAM, obtaining the grade of Pharmaceutical Chemist.

His research experience corresponds to analytical chemistry (quantitative and qualitative analysis, chemical speciation), chromatography and electrochemistry (electropolymerization and molecular electrochemistry). Martín Gómez has published 29 research articles in international indexed and refereed journals, and 4 research articles in national journals.

He has presented 19 papers at international conferences and 50 papers at national conferences. He has also advised one Ph. D thesis, four master's theses and 40 undergraduate research projects.

He has participated in different research projects such as, “Experimental and theoretical study of interactions between drugs-metal ions”, at UNAM. He was responsible for the projects “Electrochemical determination of antioxidant capacity of vegetal extracts and biological samples”, “Validation of the CUPRAC-voltammetric method to determine the total antioxidant capacity”, and “Development and validation of methods to evaluate the antioxidant capacity of nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals and biological samples”, these projects were supported by CONACyT.

His research work is developed within the lines of:
Development and validation of analytical methods for pharmaceutical sciences.
UV-Vis spectrophotometry for the characterization of biomolecules and drugs.
Development of biosensors, using electrochemical techniques.
High-performance liquid chromatographic analysis.
Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of natural and synthetic molecules.
Synthesis and evaluation of drugs and their metabolites.
