Profile

Professor Amando José Padilla Ramírez has professional experience as a
Researcher at the Materials Research Institute of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) from 1976 to 1990, generating seven international publications, more than 60 presentations in congresses, 12 articles in journals, and two patents. He was Manager of Development and Engineering at DINA Automotive Plastics (1990 to 1998), developing flame retardant resins, gelcoat, and adhesives, as well as the optimization of open mold processes, polymer concrete, and thermocompression. Engineering and Development Manager at Sarnamotive in injection molding, extrusion, and thermoforming process control from 1999 to 2001. He was responsible for approving more than 40 parts for the automotive industry. Director of the Association of Reinforced Plastics (ACP) from 2002 to 2004, promoting congresses, training courses, publication of magazines, and promoting the relationship between the industry and academic institutions. Professor at the Faculty of Chemistry of the UNAM (from 1973 to date), the ESIQIE of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), La Salle University, among other institutions. Has taught several courses for industries and academic centers.

He has been a consultant in research centers (CICY) and in several companies such as: Industrias Resistol, Poliformas Plásticas, Multina, Interfil, Termolita, Total Resins, among others.

From January 1, 2005, to date, he has been a Professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, promoting research in the use of composite materials and dissemination of knowledge in international and national forums, as well as in various journals. Graduate professor at CYAD and CBI. From October 2015 to date, responsible for the Coordination of Liaison of CBI, promoting the relationship between UAM and the productive and social sector. From June 2016 to date, member of the Committee of the Composite Materials Network "MATCORED", sponsored by CONACYT.

He has generated 35 full Articles published in Congress Proceedings, 20 Technical Reports, 30 national and international Conferences, 25 Undergraduate Thesis (Final Projects), four Workshops on Reinforced Plastics, participation in the design and construction of equipment, and provision of professional services for the reinforcement of structures with PRFC elements (carbon fiber reinforced plastics).

In the area of external links, two agreements were established with the company Termolita from 2011 to 2013 in order to develop and evaluate applications of aluminosilicate microspheres in hydraulic and polymeric matrices.

Five collaboration agreements for developing materials and technologies applicable to the transportation industry with the Dina Group from 2014 to date. Likewise, two collaboration agreements have been reached with the Arteche Group for developing composite materials for the electrical industry (from 2014 to 2015) and a contract from 2017 with the Eecore Group for the use of BMC waste in use in the development of various types of products.

As of 2018, a joint project is started with Dina Autobuses to implement a closed molding process for bus parts (RTM Light). It has provided consulting services to several companies, among which the following stand out: Implementation of the process for thermoforming of automotive hoses. Interfil S.A. Company; Developing and evaluating fiberglass fabric for substituting 10x10 mesh for concrete floors. Saint Gobain Company; Development of formulations and optimization of the plastisol process for seals in air filters. Interfil S.A. Company; Troubleshooting and training course in the deep drawing process. Interfil S.A. Company; Develop and implement vacuum process for manufacturing fiberglass parts. Fibramex S.A. Company: Development of materials and start-up of filament winding process to manufacture dielectric poles. Herramientas Técnicas S.A. Company; Reinforcement of concrete structures with carbon fibers. Miraman Company; Development of low specific weight solid surface. Termolita Sapi S.A. Company; Development of low specific weight superfluid mortars. Termolita Sapi S.A. Company; Development of sandwich panels for falsework. Dicom Company; Development of BMC for electrical applications EEcore Company; Training in the manual molding process Dina Autobuses Company.

Based on the experience acquired in research, development, engineering, financial, and personnel management in the field of plastics and composite materials, as well as in manufacturing operations and quality systems, the objectives are the Development and characterization of composite materials, oriented to construction among other applications. To deepen in the mechanical, thermal, and rheological characterization in relation to structure and composition. To establish links between research and development centers and industry; to implement quality systems (ISO 9000) to provide services as a qualified center; to promote consulting services and development projects; y Develop continuous improvement programs for the industry within the context of linking with the Institute, based on cost reduction through the analysis of operating processes, production programs, raw material supply, evaluation of cost controls, production volumes, labor, raw material, and waste control, and product finish control.
