Dr. Juan José Carrillo Nieto is a Full-Time Professor in the Department of Politics and Culture within the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Xochimilco Campus of the Universidad Autonóma Metropolitana.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and a Master's degree in Latin American Studies from UNAM. He earned his PhD in History from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in France. He is a member of the academic area of Latin American Issues.

His research interests are related to rights and social relations, the history of Mexican law, constitutional law, and the struggle for and defense of human rights in Mexico and Latin America.
