Dr. Amalia Patricia Gaytán Sánchez is Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the Azcapotzalco Campus ot the UAM, Master's degree in Political Sociology from the Dr. José María Luis Mora Research Institute, and a Ph.D. in Sociology with a focus on Theory and Sociological Thought from Azcapotzalco Campus.

In 2001, she won the first place in the National Youth Prize for Political Essay awarded by IMJUVE, and in 2005, the second place in the Gustavo Cabrera Acevedo Prize, given by COLMEX for the best master's thesis in urban studies.

In 2012, she received the Medal of Merit at UAM, Azcapotzalco Campus. She is the author of the book "Del piropo al desencanto. Un estudio sociológico" (UAM-A, 2009), in which she addresses the definitions and causes of sexual harassment in public places. She has published various research articles, including "Émile Durkheim y Georg Simmel: un encuentro no planeado" (2002), "Desterradas de la polis, sobre la condición femenina en el pensamiento de Hannah Arendt" (2004), "Dualidad y contradicción en Simmel: por una teoría sociológica del género" (2007), "Los problemas del progreso-oportunidades desde la perspectiva de género" (2004), and "La contribución del estudio del cuerpo y de las emociones para una teoría de la acción social" (2011), as well as "Calle, cuerpo y género, la identidad como proceso en la ciudad de México" in specialized journals and collective books.

In addition to research articles, she has written notes and translations from English for the Sociological Review. She has conducted workshops to raise awareness against gender stereotypes and discrimination for middle management of the Supreme Court of Justice and is the author of the content for the "Virtual Course on Sexual Harassment and its Effects" offered by CONATRIB to its personnel.

She has worked as a professor at the Ibero-American University and in the Master's and Doctorate programs in Sociology at Azcapotzalco Campus.
