Professor José Luis Pérez Avalos graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the UNAM and later completed two specialties: General Surgery from 1989 to 1992, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 1992 to 1995, both at the General Hospital of Mexico. Subsequently, a diploma in Clinical Research at the Children's Hospital was endorsed by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) (2003-2004). He completed a Master's Degree in Hospital Administration and Public Health at IESAP (2012-2015). He is currently 50% advanced in the Doctorate in Educational Evaluation (UniYMCA third semester).

His teaching activity began in 2001 at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Xochimilco Campus, as a clinical area advisor, later, he became a Professor by chair opposition in 2016. Professor of Clinical Area in Medicine at the Universidad Anahuac Campus Norte (2018). He has been head of Teaching at the Obregón Hospital from 2001 to 2015.

His healthcare activity includes his work at Hospital Ángeles Clínica Londres (staff) since 1995 and as head of plastic surgery service at Hospital Obregón in Mexico City. The areas of research in which he has participated and developed fall into two areas: Clinical research projects related to his medical specialty and educational research projects, he has sent the first work of educational research (quantitative self-assessment in students) to the Journal Medical Education (Spain-Elsevier) in which he has been invited as a reviewer of articles. And is finalizing another one of formative evaluation equivalent to the professional exam, but proposed as formative evaluation (TOSBA).
