Profile
Professor Alejandro Altamirano Torres is a Metallurgist Engineer who graduated from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus; he also studied for a postgraduate degree in Materials Science and Engineering at the same institution. He has had a PRODEP profile for approximately ten years.
His research area is the study of the influence of heat treatments on the microstructure and properties of carbon steels, stainless steels, machinery grade, and tool grade, as well as ordinary and alloyed castings. He has also researched surface hardening in ferrous alloys subjected to carburizing, boriding, and nitriding thermochemical treatments.
In addition, another research area is the study, fabrication, and characterization of composite biomaterials (PLA/QUITOSANE), for biomedical use using the extrusion technique.
He has been the coordinator of two research projects approved by the Council of the Azcapotzalco Campus.
