Profile
Dr. Anatolio Martínez Jiménez, originally from Rinconada, Veracruz, holds a degree in Physical Engineering as well as Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). He currently serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Basic Sciences at the Azcapotzalco Campus, where he also coordinates the Atomic Force and Tunneling Microscopy Laboratory.
His academic and scientific career has been distinguished by the development of functional materials with applications in pollutant degradation, corrosion inhibition, energy storage, and light generation. In addition, he has contributed to strengthening experimental and applied research through the provision of specialized materials characterization services using advanced scanning probe microscopy techniques, thereby consolidating scientific capabilities in the field of materials science and engineering.
Throughout his academic training and professional career, he has received several distinctions in recognition of his performance and scientific contributions, including the Youth Achievement Award granted by the Government of the State of Veracruz; the University Merit Medal and Academic Distinction awarded by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana; as well as the Academic Excellence Recognition granted by the National Association of Engineering Schools and Faculties (ANFEI).
He is also a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII) at Level I and holds the PRODEP Desirable Profile recognition, distinctions that reflect his commitment to scientific research, the training of human resources, and technological development in Mexico.
