Professor Bárbara Paulina Velarde Gutiérrez is an Architect by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Azcapotzalco Campus, in Historiography of Mexico, working on the role of memory and interpretation in the narratives about Mexico City. She has a specialization in Cultural Management and Policies from UAM Iztapalapa Campus. She has been a Professor at UAM in the Division of Sciences and Arts for Design since 2000 and is an advisor to the postgraduate program in Management and Cultural Policies at UAM Iztapalapa Campus.

Participant in the research project N-476 "Technology as discourse and as a tool for design", attached to the Research Program P-030 "Design and technological interaction", which is part of the research group "Design and technological interaction" of the Department of Research and Knowledge.

Member of the Acoustic Analysis and Design Research Area, as part of the project "Towards a definition of soundscape indices. The sound public space of Mexico City".

Management tasks developed at UAM Azcapotzalco Campus have been as Head of the Student Liaison Program (2005-2017), Coordinator of University Extension (2018-2019), Head of the Alumni Project (2019).
