Dr. Carolina Carbajal De Nova holds a Ph.D. in Economic Sciences with Honors (mención honorífica) from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN), a Master’s degree in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University (Dyson School, International Economic Development area), a Master’s degree in Social Studies with Honors (Social Economics track), and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa. She was a visiting scholar at the Institute for Research on Labor and Employment at the University of California, Berkeley. She holds the rank of National Researcher Level I in the Sistema Nacional de Investigadoras e Investigadores (SNII) and holds the Desirable Faculty Profile distinction awarded by the Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP).

She serves as a Full-Time Professor in the Department of Economics within the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Unidad Iztapalapa. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in microeconomics, economic theory, general equilibrium, statistics, econometrics, time series, and applied quantitative methods in economics.

Her research focuses on applied econometrics with contributions to health, labor, agriculture, finance, security, and energy. She is the author of the textbook Contabilidad Nacional Básica (UAM-I) and numerous peer-reviewed articles in journals such as Inquiry, Journal of Applied Business Research, International Journal of Energy Economics and Policy, Revista Mexicana de Economía y Finanzas, Investigación Económica, and Análisis Económico. She is the holder of U.S. Patent US 10,296,983 B2, introducing a methodology for constructing and utilizing synthetic data for risk scenario evaluation. She serves on the editorial boards of Análisis Económico (UAM-A), Journal of Financial and Economic Dynamics, and Journal of Global Economic Strategy and Cooperation (Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences, China), and is an elected member of the International Statistical Institute.
