Professor Carlos Avilés Cruz was born in March 1966 in Mexico City, Mexico. He received his degree in Electronic Engineering specializing in Digital Systems from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) in 1989, his Master's degree in Digital Signal, Image and Voice Processing from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) de Grenoble-Francia in 1993 and his Ph.D. degree from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) de Grenoble-Francia in 1997.
He is a professor at the Azcapotzalco Campus of the UAM, author, and co-author of more than 100 articles in journals and national and international conferences, and co-author of two books. His interests are computer vision, digital image processing, digital signal processing, pattern recognition, higher order statistics, and deep learning.
