Professor José Arturo Granados Cosme is a Physician, he holds a Diploma in Health Promotion and a Master's Degree in Social Medicine from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the Escuela Nacional de Antropología e Historia, and is a member of the National System of Researchers, Level II. He won first place nationally in Health Sciences in the 1998 National Youth Science and Technology Contest of Causa Joven; the UAM awarded him the University Merit Medal in 1999. He has been a Professor with PROMEP Profile since 2003.

He is a Professor at the Department of Health Care of the Xochimilco Campus, where he teaches in the Bachelor's Degree in Medicine, in the Master's Degree in Social Medicine, and in the Doctorate in Collective Health Sciences. He has also taught in the Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at the Technological University of Mexico (UNITEC), in the Specialization in Health Promotion at the National Institute of Public Health, and in the Bachelor's Degree in Health Promotion at the Autonomous University of Mexico City.

He was the Coordinator of the Master in Social Medicine (2009-2012) and Director of the journal Salud Problema (2003-2013), since 2014 he has been a member of the National Editorial Board of the journal Salud Problema, and he is part of the Editorial Committee of the Division of Biological and Health Sciences of the UAM and the journal DIVULGARE Scientific Bulletin of the Actopan High School of the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo. Author of the books: "Mental health and the risk of HIV-AIDS in young homosexuals. Qualitative approach to the experience of homophobia" and "The gender perspective in the study of mental disorders and work", co-author of the book: "In-corporation of HIV: nine cartographies".

Coordinator of three collective books, author of more than 20 book chapters. He has published more than 40 articles in national and international specialized journals and directed specialization, master's, and doctoral theses in the fields of Social Medicine, Public Health, and Collective Health. He directed the Evaluation of the Integral System of Quality in Health 2009 and the Processes of financing, selection, acquisition, storage, and distribution of medicines in the State Health Services 2008, both for the Ministry of Health. His lines of research are Sexuality and health culture, Identity, sexual diversity, and mental health, Masculinity, homophobia, and HIV-AIDS.
