Profile
Prof. Dr. Nikola Batina was born in Donji Miholjac, Croatia. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, at the Faculty of Science, Department of Chemistry, University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia, in 1978. Subsequently, he earned his Master's degree in Chemistry, Oceanography, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, in Croatia. He is a full-time distinguished professor, holds the rank of Professor C, and has S.N.I. Level III in the field of Electrochemistry at the Laboratory of Nanotechnology and Molecular Engineering, Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa, Electrochemistry, Department of Chemistry, Division of Basic Sciences and Engineering.
He has 136 indexed journals, with 4,376 citations, 60 peer-reviewed articles, has participated in over 172 international and 113 national conferences, and has been involved in various roles in organizing and coordinating International Scientific Conferences. During his tenure at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, since 1995, he has taught 277 courses, supervised 54 theses, 22 Social Service projects, and authored 1 book chapter. He has served as the Director of Scientific Projects 15 times and has participated in 6 internal scientific projects. Throughout his career, he has received various awards and recognitions.
In 2002, he received the Research Award in the field of Basic Sciences and Engineering from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM), in recognition of his participation in the professional training course of NanoBioMedica, awarded by the Polymetric Society of Mexico, A.C. In subsequent years, he received the Research Award in the field of Biological and Health Sciences from Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) twice, in 2017 and 2020.
He has extensive work experience. In 1979, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Marine Research, University of Zagreb, Zagreb, Croatia. Subsequently, in 1986, he held a Postdoctoral position at the University of Cincinnati until 1989. In the same year, he became an Associate Researcher/Assistant Professor at the Center for Marine Research, Croatia. In 1990, he became an Associate Researcher (Senior) at the Department of Electrochemistry, University of Ulm, Germany, holding a scholarship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and the European Community. In 1994, he was in Itaya, Japan, as an Associate Researcher. It was in 1995 and onwards that he became a Full Professor C in Electrochemistry at Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana-Iztapalapa, Department of Chemistry.
