Victor Ramos is a professor in the Networks and Telecommunications Area of the Electrical Engineering Department at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus. He was born in August 1971 in Mexico. In 1995, he obtained a B.S. degree in Electronic Engineering (Communications) from the UAM. In 2000 and 2004, he received the Diploma of Advanced Studies (DEA, Diplôme d'Études Approffondies) in Networks and Distributed Systems and the degree of Doctor of Science (Networks), respectively, both from the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, France.

Professor Ramos' main research focuses on anti-collision protocols for RFID systems, RFID tag identification, broadcast protocols for vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs), wireless sensor networks, and adaptive video streaming over HTTP.

He is a member of the National System of Researchers, Level I, and has a PRODEP Desirable Profile Recognition. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE and has been researching protocols for computer networks since 2000. Since then, until July 2020, he has graduated 18 graduate students, 15 master's, and three doctoral students.

At the Iztapalapa Campus, he has been the Coordinator of the Electronic Engineering Degree, Head of the Networks and Telecommunications Area, and Head of the Electrical Engineering Department; also, he has been the representative of professors of his department before the Academic Council. From 2000 to 2004, he was a lecturer in different French institutions such as the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis (UNSA), at the Ecole Supérieure des Sciences de la Computing (ESSI), at the Institut Eurécom, and the Institute for Advanced Internet Studies (Marseille). Also, Professor Ramos has been a referee in multiple international journals and conferences, including IEEE Infocom, IEEE Globecom, IEEE JSAC, IEEE/ACM ToN, IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks, IEEE Sensors, Remote Sensing, Sensors, Computer Communications, Mathematical Problems in Engineering, EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, Mobile Networks and Applications, IEEE Transactions on Mobile Computing, IET Communications Journal, and several others.
