Professor María del Pilar Berrios Navarro is Doctor in Political Sociology, with a specialization in Human Rights from the Castilla University-La Mancha. M.A. in Public Policy and B.A. in Sociology from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). Full Time Research Professor, Tenured C of the Department of Social Relations at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Xochimilco Campus.

She has coordinated and published several books, including "Public Policy on Gender and Diversity. New and Old Issues in the Public Agenda" (2021), "Public Policies and Human Rights (2017) and Social Policy in Subnational Entities (2015), "The Mirrors of Social Policy in the Federal District" (2010); "New Approaches, New Actors in Social Development"(2007), "Effective Participation of Rural Women at the Local Level" (2007), "Democracy and Exclusion" (2006), "Citizen Participation in Development and Social Policy in Mexico", "The Civic in the Public", "Between the Civic and the Governmental: Analysis of the Relationship between Government and Civil Organizations in the Federal District", and "Power, Ideology and Social Response in Mexico (1982-1996)".

She has also been included as a regular writer in the magazine El Cotidiano, and occasionally in the Revista Sociológica published by UAM. She has lectured on topics such as "The Policy of Collaboration between Civil Organizations and the Government of the Federal District", "Structuring the Agenda in the Public Policy Process" and "The Policy of Administration of Justice in Mexico". Speaker at the Latin American Seminar on Citizenship and Sustainable Democracy sponsored by UAM and the Mexican Network of Civil Society Researchers, as well as at various events within the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), the University of Mexico City (UCM), the National Pedagogical University (UPN), the Autonomous University of Tlaxcala, Morelos and Guerrero, at the ITESO.
