Professor José Luis Zarazúa Vilchis was born in Mexico City in April 1968. He holds a Ph.D. in Organizational Studies from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM) Iztapalapa Campus (2011), where he was awarded the University Merit Medal, a Master in Business Administration from the Escuela Superior de Comercio y Administración of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) (2003). He holds a degree in Administration from the Azcapotzalco Campus of the UAM (1992).

He has served as a professor at the UAM Azcapotzalco Campus from 1995 to date, where he held management positions as Academic Staff Representative to the Divisional Council of Social Sciences and Humanities (2013-2014), Member of the Editorial Board of the CSH Division. (2011-2015), Editor of the Journal Gestión y Estrategia (2010-2011), Coordinator of Diplomas in Administration and Human Resources Administration of the Department of Administration (2003-2006), Coordinator of the Curricular Axis Human Factor (2000-2005); Administrative Coordinator of the DCSH. (2002-2003) and Coordinator of Dissemination and Publications of the DCSH (2000-2002).

He has received recognition from governmental institutions such as Sistema de Transporte Colectivo Metro, for the collaboration and assembly of the first institutional exhibition "La Metro en el Metro" (26/04/2002); Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social as a member of the Evaluation Committee of the Human Development Training Programs (2004); Secretaría de la Función Pública for the Participation in the Technical Evaluation Processes of the works nominated for the National Public Administration Award in 2011, 2012 and 2013. Synodal in the Evaluation of Public Servants in the Tax Administration Service during the years 2011 and 2012, as well as a participant in the Design of a Performance Evaluation System for Officials of the National Institute of Geography and Statistics from January to December 2012.

Member of the Mexican Network of Researchers in Organizational Studies A.C. (2012-2013), he has participated as a speaker in several Management Colloquia and International Congresses of Organizational Analysis. He has taught refresher courses in public sector organizations such as Delegación Iztapalapa, Delegación Gustavo A. Madero, Secretaría de Seguridad Pública and Secretaría de Desarrollo Social. He has also written several research articles published in journals such as Gestión y estrategia (Azcapotzalco Campus), Administración y organizaciones (Xochimilco Campus), Reflexiones (CIDE) and has also participated in collective books published by Azcapotzalco Campus, Dirección de Publicaciones IPN, Colegio de Posgraduados CIDE and Editorial Hess. Before joining UAM, he held management and leadership positions in commercial and service companies in both the public and private sectors, such as Banjercito S.N.C., Banco del Atlantico S.A. and Comercial Mexicana S.A.
