Professor José Javier Arredondo Vega was born in Mexico City. His academic training: by the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México with a degree in Architecture and at the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), a Master in Building Restoration by the National School of Conservation and Museography (ENCRyM).
He has professional experience in the private sector. From his beginnings, he highlights two offices in which he collaborated (as a draftsman and resident of work), the architect José Villagrán García (great theoretician of architecture and prominent builder) and Ricardo Legorreta. He later had the opportunity to design and build houses. Years later, as a contractor, already with knowledge of restoration, after decades of working in the public sector, he highlights his participation in the design and supervision of packaging of colonial art objects for the exhibition "Mexico, 30 Centuries of Splendor" in New York. U.S.A; the execution of the project and the integral restoration of the Expiatory Temple of San Felipe de Jesus (XIX century); the performance of the project and supervision of restoration works of the frontispiece of the Casa de Los Azulejos (XVII century) in the Historic Center of Mexico City; the execution of the project and supervision of restoration works of the Lobby of the Biltmore Hotel in Miami Flo. U.S.A, (early 20th century); co-authorship of the Urban Rehabilitation Project of Garcia Moreno Avenue in the Historic Center of Quito, Ecuador, promoted by the Paul Getty Foundation (U.S.A), and the execution of the project and maintenance works in the National Museum of the Viceroyalty of Tepozotlan, State of Mexico, for the INAH; and consulting in the restoration (First Stage) of the Altarpiece of the Kings (18th century), of the Cathedral of Mexico, among other works.
Professional experience in the public sector: collaborating with the National Housing Institute, the Ministries of National Heritage (SPN), of Human Settlements and Public Works (SAHOP), Urban Development and Ecology (SEDUE), and the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) with the National Coordination of Monuments. He performed different functions, predominantly coordinating state programs, executing conservation works, restoration, specific advice to communities, and carrying out opinions on the Conservation and Restoration of buildings and public heritage spaces in various states of the Republic and Mexico City.
He is a Professor in the degree of Architecture and the postgraduate courses of Conservation and Restoration of Built Heritage at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, Azcapotzalco Campus; Division of Sciences and Arts for Design. At the Escuela Nacional de Conservación y Museografía. Manuel Castillo Negrete (ENCRyM), of the National Institute of Anthropology and History and at the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos.
Co-author of San Agustín Acolman/Ensayo, 1990. Collaboration in the Vocabulario Arquitectónico Ilustrado, Secretaria del Patrimonio Nacional, 1971, and in the Especificaciones Generales de Restauración, SAHOP, 1981. Collaboration in Vivienda Emergente en la Ciudad de México (1988), published by the Fideicomiso Programa Emergente de Vivienda Fase II.
