Professor Germán A. de la Reza has a doctorate in Economics (University of Paris) and Philosophy (University of Toulouse), both on international integration and economic disparities.

He was a researcher at the University of Stockholm and the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Since 1998 he has been a professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana (UAM). From 2005-2006, he held the Simón Bolívar Chair of the University of Paris, and in 2010 one of his 18 books, The invention of peace, was awarded the Thought of America Award (IPGH-OEA, available in five languages) .

He has been responsible for four academic journals; he holds the national research distinction SNI, level III, and is a regular Mexican Academy of Sciences member. His works are included in more than 50 study programs from 38 universities in America and Europe. His topics of scientific and teaching interest are international integration, international relations, history of inter-American relations, Latin American integrationist thinking, and the challenges of economic integration in disparity.
